Time in the Hospital

After I delivered Blaine there was an emergency C-section so we got to hang around for a bit.  One of the nurses came back in to give Blaine a bath and finally weigh and measure him.  After that they moved us to a recovery room.  My other friend Jenny came and hung out with me for a few hours, so Sarah could head home to her family.

The next morning we attended the Circumcision Class so Blaine could have the procedure, and the Shaken Baby Syndrome Class (it's a requirement to attend before they'll discharge you).  Tim had left early Tuesday morning and I was getting excited for him and the boys to meet Blaine.  I think they got to the hospital around 1:30 PM.  Ryan and Colin were so excited to meet Blaine!  I was pleasantly surprised by Colin's enthusiasm.  During my entire pregnancy he would easily get jealous if I was holding or helping another child....including Ryan sometimes.

We ended up spending a full 48 hours in the hospital.  Yuck!  My Group B Test had come back positive a few weeks prior and since my delivery was so quick they did not have the time to give me the antibiotics needed.  Therefore, they had to keep Blaine a full 48 hours to monitor him and to wait for some blood cultures to come back.  Tim and the boys came and went a few times on Tuesday, but went home to sleep and after getting some chores done on Wednesday morning they came back up to hang out with me.  Colin and I enjoyed a nice nap on the pull out chair while Tim, Ryan, and Blaine enjoyed some cartoons.  We were all very excited when the Pediatrician came in soon after I woke up to let us know Blaine's blood work came back fine and she was discharging him so we could go home!
